Well articulated post.

Based on stuff I've read about so far, looks like India is in a slightly advantageous position in terms of it's 'disconnectedness' to the global mess. We are not so dependent on fossil fuels (we have a good rail network, we have some of the top largest wind power arrays, etc.,). We have a slow, sluggish, large democracy where changes are difficult. This has been a boon thus far. We've remained largely agrarian. We've just been around in this place for such a long time that there are wonderful ancient practices that, to me today, seems to point out a way of living sustainably.

Nonetheless, we've also taken a good ride on oil. With heavily mechanised large scale farms that produce crops on dead soil with the help of fertilisers, I'm afraid there is going to be violent reaction from the farmer masses as they wake up to reality. How is this going to be addressed?

I believe, there are two fundamental principles that a leader should go by:

1. Sustainability: This is why, I violently admire Mr.Gandhi. How did he just _know_ that gram rajya is the way to go?
2. Addressing population growth and why its time we did something about it... the way it has to be addressed to India.

All said, I believe, we're way near the tipping point that even if we found such a leader, he would hardly have any time to react. Remember, the crash course - "At the 44th minute, 93% of the stadium is still empty and at the 49th minute, boom!".

Will this leader tackle a crisis of several hundred thousand refugees across all the borders? Can he 'somehow' prevent our friendly neighbouring countries from damaging us while they self-destruct?

Ultimately, is everything at the leader's will? Nope.

Homo sapiens are no different. We have limitations... that we can realize things only too late. Its only lately we've realized all this, right? Why didn't even the darwins and einsteins figure out energy's central role in all life forms?

I say, Yet another species. Yet another Malthusian Catastrophe.

I know I sound depressing, but by analysing further and getting used to the idea, the world looks clear and with full of opportunities. Challenging, Exciting times, indeed!

Its our nature to maintain status-quo. Any fact disturbing this, puts us into Grief. Read about the Kübler-Ross model?

Okay, I've typed long enough. Good post, thoroughly enjoyed reading it. :)
